We appreciate the donation of a blood gas machine in our NICU at North Shore University Hospital. This state-of-the-art equipment allows point-of-care testing of oxygen and carbon dioxide levels and acid-base status of the fragile infants in the intensive care unit. The physical location of the equipment is ideal to allow minute-by-minute measurements and rapid turnaround in the sickest infants.

Without these tools there is no way my daughter could have gotten through drinking the contrast, having an IV and staying still for the 45-minute procedure. And it wasn’t scary at all. In fact, she said, ‘I liked watching the movie for my pictures.’
