Small and midsized accounting firms are finding strength in numbers by joining accounting associations that provide deep wells of knowledge. “There’s a tremendous amount of resources in the alliance program,” said STEVEN WOLPOW.
“Not only can I pick up the phone and talk to the 83 alliance firms. I have direct access to McGladrey’s people serving alliance members.”
He feels more confident with answers from McGladrey than from peers through emails, which he said can elicit incorrect responses. “We found from time to time the answers we were getting were not necessarily filled with foundation,” Wolpow said of other firms’ responses. “There was no authoritative literature behind it. It was well intentioned, but maybe not 100 percent accurate.”
