More about Dennis:
Dennis R. Klein, CPA is senior assurance partner at Nussbaum Yates Berg Klein & Wolpow, LLP with offices in Melville and New York City. He has specialized knowledge in tax compliance and planning; business and succession planning; ESOP’s; and bankruptcy matters.
Klein is well known in the industry for his unique problem solving abilities. His experience includes positions at a national accounting firm, as well as hands-on management and financial operations as treasurer of a regional retail clothing chain.
His background also gives him a client-sided perspective when dealing with financial matters. Klein has focused on clients in various fields including wholesale distribution, publishing, retail, manufacturing, real estate, construction and professionals. “The United States Department of Labor’s prediction that between 2008 and 2018 the accounting industry will see an increase in accountants is pretty much on the mark, according to Klein. Due to the recent economic downturn and the resulting tougher job market, there has actually been a spike in accounting students and a net influx of entry level people into the accounting profession,” Klein said.
“Also, the accounting professionals who left public accounting to specialize in Sarbanes Oxley compliance work are coming back to public accounting as the Sarbox work dries up,” he said. On the other hand, in New York State, the accounting profession has mandated a fifth year of college level education for aspiring CPAs, Klein noted.
“This is viewed as unnecessary and a roadblock by many potential accounting majors and may turn out to dampen the number of entry level people entering the CPA profession,” he said. “Let’s be optimistic and think that by 2018, the economy will be running on all cylinders again and the job market and employment levels of accountants on Long Island will be up.”
Klein is a graduate of Syracuse University and is licensed in New York and Florida. He has served on the boards of several civic and charitable organizations.
